Its origin is lost in the recesses of time, its ingenious design and practical function make it an irresistible object that transcends any era. From the Japanese geishas, ​​the elegant women of 18th century Spain, to the exciting stage in drag culture, the fan has a connection with spirituality and aesthetics, it has been used in ceremonies, in dance and theater, it has been a form of secret language between lovers, and an extension of the body that enhances performance and transformation.

In Mesoamerica the palm fan reflects the craftsmanship and skill, in whose weaving beautiful patterns are created. In addition to being a tool for cooling and relieving heat, in many indigenous traditions, it is considered a sacred object and its use is associated with communication with the gods, seeking protection and connecting with the divine.
