FIRST USE

Curing: A term we hear hundreds of times but rarely apply. This step of applying a few drops of oil is essential and should be repeated every few months to nourish the wood and ensure it remains in good condition.

The oil droplets that coat its surface act as a protective barrier that prevents the wood from absorbing water, in addition to helping them always look new without losing their shine and original color.

Curing steps: Wash with soap and water. Dry with a towel. Ventilate thoroughly outdoors. Apply a final coat of food-grade mineral oil or natural beeswax to the entire surface. Rub in with a towel to ensure the oil penetrates the wood. Cooking oil is not recommended. Allow to dry for 24 hours and do not touch. Wipe off any excess oil.

CARE

Washing: There is no simpler method for washing wooden kitchen utensils than using hot water to soften any stuck-on residue, along with a soapy sponge to scrub the surface and remove all the dirt.

Do not soak: Some preparations stick more than others, so we usually resort to soaking to make cleaning easier. The bad news is that moisture is their main enemy, as it promotes microbial growth.

Hand washing: Dishwashers, during their wash cycle, go through several temperature changes, and the humidity in the environment causes the wood to expand, crack, and for bacteria and fungi to grow.

Drying: Humidity is the great enemy of wood, so after each wash, dry very well with a towel and let them air dry in the open air.

Maintenance: Oil regularly using a towel and oil. Store in a dry place.
