Maíz tierra y pueblo: Maíz Nation is a tribute to the original communities of the Mixteca Alta, Sierra de Juárez, Chinantla and Costa de Oaxaca, who with hope and patience have preserved their maize throughout countless generations.

The rich terroir this bottle evokes transcends all notions of altitude, climate, soil, or biological intersection. As important as each of these factors is, for the Maíz Nation project the most valuable are the families, the communities, their history and their culture.

Traditional cultivation methods, soil conservation, the right of peasant families to propagate and conserve their own seeds, and community grain banks, are the foundations of food sovereignty and cultural diversity of native peoples.

Heirloom corn. It pays tribute to the peasants who have preserved the crops of native and ancient species. Maíz Nation is part of the effort that supports the preservation of agrobiodiversity and sustainable traditional agriculture.
