THREE SOULS / POX

Pox Tres Almas is a handcrafted spirit from Chamula, Chiapas, with Mayan heritage and the essence of the forest. It's made with an original recipe of heirloom corn, sugarcane, and wheat. These three ingredients are the three souls that give it its distinctive and unique flavor.

Process: The ingredients, infused with spring water from the region's mountains, are left to ferment for several nights in pine vats. It is believed that at this point, the spirit of the pox itself tells the producer whether or not it will allow them to make a good drink. The fermented mixture is then placed in the copper still, which will carry out the final step. The fire is lit, and the future Tzotzil medicine is heated.

Pox is said to have magical powers, helping to liberate the soul and create a connection between the material and spiritual worlds. For this reason, it has been part of the indigenous culture of the Chiapas Highlands region for centuries, a practice of ceremonial nature.
