With 263 ocean-view rooms, a guest list that includes royalty, actresses, astronauts, and politicians, and a ubiquitous pink color scheme, Las Brisas could well be considered the last bastion of Acapulco's golden age.

With the country enjoying the fruits of the Mexican miracle, numerous architects had already embarked on the task of erecting buildings that celebrated the arrival of modernity in Mexico. In the context of Acapulco, and in addition to Félix Candela, Francisco Artigas, and the duos of Pani and del Moral, and Juan Sordo Madaleno with José Wiechers, many others had begun designing residences, hotels, and social buildings that showcased a new tropical modernity. Thus, Madrigal Solchaga designed the rooms as a system of independent casitas that, echoing the Californian domestic architecture of the time, integrated architecture and landscape. Furthermore, each one was adapted to the undulating terrain and offered ocean views.

Moreover, and with a nod to the port's most important historical monument, the new hotel incorporated some characteristic elements of Fort San Diego (located directly across the bay) into its construction.

By the 1950s, pink had already been adopted as a favorite color for tropical settings. However, Las Brisas took it to the next level. From the umbrellas by the pools and the towels, to the walls of the casitas and the oxygen tanks for visitors who wanted to go scuba diving, everything was decorated with pink and white stripes. Even the jeeps used to transport guests between the restaurants, cabanas, reception, and beach club were painted in the hotel's signature colors. While this color palette made a splash, what truly propelled the new hotel to success was its blend of luxury and privacy.
