This book explores the multiplicity of architectural styles and movements that have emerged in Mexico during the 20th and early 21st centuries. Drawing on French philosopher Michel Foucault’s concept of "effective history"—in which knowledge, like history itself, comprises fragments rather than absolute truths—the book offers an interpretation of the various themes defining the country's architectural output. This approach seeks an understanding that transcends built forms, focusing instead on the ideas that give rise to them. In an effort to shift and reinvent paradigms, history is viewed as a space for active engagement, emphasizing the interplay between architecture, theory, art, design, and urbanism.
