Mexico 68 — Official Report
Original Edition (4 Volumes) | Utilitario Mexicano 2026 Intervention

Read Prologue

This collection is the definitive record of the Games of the XIX Olympiad. Published in 1969 by the Organizing Committee, the Official Report transcends a mere compendium of results: it is a masterpiece of editorial design and a historical document that captures the moment Mexico projected itself to the world as a modern and sophisticated nation.

The Manifesto of Mexican Modernism. Under the vision of architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, the 1968 Games were conceived as a state project and a masterful maneuver of cultural diplomacy. Alongside figures like Lance Wyman, Ramírez Vázquez integrated avant-garde design, monumental architecture, and an unparalleled cultural program to issue a "letter of introduction" of stability and creativity at the climax of the Cold War.

Restoration Philosophy. Preservation and Dialogue. The intervention carried out by Utilitario Mexicano in 2026 seeks to restore the structural integrity of the volumes while respecting the honesty of the original object. The premise is to preserve without invading:

Structure: Spines and interiors were reinforced to ensure durability.

Aesthetics: The new gray cardboard exterior with silkscreen printing establishes a dialogue between the legacy of 1968 and contemporary utilitarian design.

Integrity: This "second skin" protects the original interiors made of high-grammage coated paper, transforming an archival piece into a functional collector's item.
