The lechuguilla fiber is another natural treasure of Mexico. Unlike henequen, which is mainly cultivated in the Yucatán Peninsula, lechuguilla is more abundant in northern Mexico, particularly in the desert states. Lechuguilla fiber tends to be rougher and more resistant than henequen. It's used in the production of strong and durable ropes as well as in traditional artisanal products like brushes, mats, and woven bags. Often, lechuguilla is preferred for its toughness and is an integral part of the culture and craftsmanship in Mexico's desert regions.
