LOOM TOWEL / PINE
LOOM TOWEL / PINE
This cotton towel features high absorption capacity and quick drying due to its flat weave. Soft to the touch, the towel becomes more pleasant and fluffy with each wash. This versatile textile can be used as a table guide, sarong, bed cover, shawl, or picnic blanket. It represents multifunctionality at its finest.
The pedal loom was introduced to Mexico by the Spanish in the 16th century and, after colonization, became the most widely used technique in the textile industry, operated exclusively by men. Its wooden structure and synchronized hand and foot movements primarily produce cotton and wool fabrics. This technique allows for faster production and the creation of wider textiles compared to those made on a backstrap loom. In Mexico, pedal looms are used in various regions, including Oaxaca, Michoacán, Zacatecas, Chiapas, and Querétaro, among others.
