Guillermo Santamarina Lagunes (Mexico City, 1957) is a pioneer in curatorial practice in our country, a curator of contemporary art, and a visual artist. Since 1981, Tin Larín, as he is also known, has been a facilitator and accomplice in organizing more than five hundred exhibitions for public institutions, private entities, and independent projects. He has also served as a director and chief curator in several cultural institutions. This career is a testament to his passion for talent and his commitment to promoting the work and ideas of living artists, particularly emerging generations. His work has driven the production of artists who have shaped the contemporary art scene in Mexico over the past four decades.
This book is a true road trip through Guillermo Santamarina's memory lane. Based on recordings collected by Mauricio Marcin along the way, footnotes, partnerships, music, and some fictions, readers can delve into the experience of an indispensable link for the development of art in our country.
"Guillermo is a dandy, an elegant dandy who meanders with pleasure through trends, eras, and generations. He is also a raver and perhaps the last punk. His eyes have incorporated as much culture with passion as his ears, and his body is a palimpsestic testimony of our time. He is also a splendid conversationalist." —Mauricio Marcin.
