In 2016, Amanda leads a double life: at night, she kills random men. Bárbara can't make up her mind about Jorge, today she likes him, tomorrow she doesn't. Julia isn't getting her period, but she prefers to stay silent and act like nothing is wrong. Sensación de vivir is the first long comic by Mirena Ossorno, an urban comedy with elements of a slasher and teenage drama whose essence is directly linked to the artistic imagination she has displayed in her previous work, greatly influenced by cinema, music, fashion, as well as graphic design and illustration. We can talk about her ethical and aesthetic cocktail: an impossible mix between the hypnotic and ecstatic style of Seiichi Hayashi from the early '70s (enhanced here by black and white and the large format), the cubist logic of some Japanese anime for female audiences in the '90s, the art direction of some movies from the late '80s, and the local delirium in the lyrics of Rodrigo D. Lorenzo for Ciudad Jardín. However, it's difficult to find a clear reference for her way of storytelling because Mirena is like no one else. In all her stylization, sprinkled with unpassionate and vocally frivolous dialogues, she speaks to us about a completely personal "here and now," one shaped by doubts, insecurities, economic limitations, as well as bars, scooters, and pregnancy tests.
