Rodrigo Moya emerges as a photojournalist during an era characterized by the dominance of a vertical and authoritarian party regime stemming from the Mexican Revolution, which governed the country term after term with apparent political stability, at the cost of a real absence of democracy and total subordination of the Judicial and Legislative branches to the Executive Power. This situation led to violent waves of protest and rebellions by dissatisfied groups of teachers and railway workers against the corporative controls of the ruling apparatus, which kept large sectors of the population marginalized and fostered union and bureaucratic corruption.
