In these difficult times, when crime news moved from the inner pages to the front page, it is urgent to reflect on the violence in our country. Carlos Monsiváis was a scholar of the subject, and the collection of the Museo del Estanquillo houses numerous publications, engravings, models, photographs, flyers, and memorabilia related to crime news, along with a considerable number of vintage photographs by Metinides that some researchers had deemed lost. In the collector's archive, as well as in the work of contemporary artists, we find works that comprise the exhibition that gives rise to this catalog. We hope that this account contributes to collective reflection.
