DEEFE STICKERS
DEEFE STICKERS
The history of the name "Distrito Federal" (D.F.) was used to refer to Mexico City from the mid-19th century. It has its roots in the Constitution of 1824 when Mexico adopted a federal form of government.
The name change to "Ciudad de México" or (CDMX) occurred in 2016 as a result of a constitutional reform. Mexico City became known as CDMX and became the capital of the country and a state of the Mexican federation.
The decision to change the name remains controversial and generates mixed opinions, especially among older generations who grew up identifying their city as the D.F. The expression "DEEFE" is a phonetic representation of the letters "D" and "F" and serves as a tribute to the "nostalgic futurism" that Mexico City represented during the 20th century.
