The pedal loom was introduced in Mexico by the Spanish in the 16th century and after colonization it was the most used technique in the mills and was used only by men. In its wooden structure and with the synchronized movement of hands and feet, mainly cotton and wool fabrics are spun. This technique allows working at a faster pace and making wider fabrics than those generated on a backstrap loom. In Mexico, the pedal loom is used in various places in the country, such as Oaxaca, Michoacán, Zacatecas, Chiapas and Querétaro, to name a few.
