Art

In the mural that O’Gorman painted in fresco for the Banco Internacional building between 1964 and 1965, and which is now in the HSBC Tower, the artist depicted, on the one hand, the primitive view of a Mexico in which nature is not yet dominated by the hand of man; and on the other, a territory transformed by roads, factories, bridges and all the technology produced by the capitalist system that is driven by banking. The artist speaks of the process by which the land is worked and manipulated to benefit man, but he also incorporates certain ironic elements that could contradict and disarticulate this dream where technology allows for an encouraging future. This book analyzes this mural clearly and thoroughly, to bring its message closer and spread its value to a wider audience.
