Art / History
In 1933, Diego Rivera came to New York to paint a mural at Rockefeller Center, Man at the Crossroads. In February 1934, before it was finished, the work was completely destroyed. Rivera would not paint in the United States again, nor would his work be exhibited there for many years. This is the story of the mural that never was and of the meticulous restoration of the sketches housed in the Anahuacalli Museum, complemented by a large number of letters, photos and other documents, many of which are brought to light for the first time in this fascinating book.
