We present the new commemorative edition of 50 years of I was in Avándaro, the book that portrays what happened on September 11, 1971, the day that marked one of the most decisive moments in the history of rock in Mexico. I was in Avándaro is the first published book that addressed the subject of the festival that became a commercial and cultural point of reference for the hippie generation, which since then was identified by its way of dressing, speaking, and working. Many crafts were developed in parallel and industries around rock proliferated. Thanks to Avándaro, rock culture spread more and more and expanded its forms of cultural expression, which is why the premise “rock is culture” has been defended.
