"I made this piece inspired by the octopuses in Japanese paintings such as those of Utagawa Kuniyoshi, mixing it with the technique of the tradition of yixing teapots while looking for an organic form that I found in wood, bamboo and flowers, mixing these elements with my imagination, this new being that is part plant, part octopus and part teapot came to life, which I decided to name Placido for its calm character and its species takonoki, which means octopus tree or something like that." -Wali-
