Alias brings back the edition of the official catalogue that accompanied this major art exhibition produced by the Spanish Ministry of Culture through the Museo Reina Sofía in collaboration with the British Council. This inventory traces the processes, experiences, and practices of the participating artists through interviews, texts, poems, and commentary, accompanied by detailed images of the works that defined the identity of British art in the new millennium. This book serves as an index that helps reinforce the theory that this formal movement was one of the most prominent of the postwar period and that its reverberations can still be felt in the different generations of artists who live on the island to this day.

In the works of these artists, the importance of certain structural considerations becomes unanimous: manipulating space instead of closing forms; the relationship of objects to a whole; the function and interaction of materials; the abstinence of rhetoric, the grandiloquent gesture, and the intimacy of detail.
