HUMOR

Mary Pain, a woman on the border between youth and maturity, is forced to return to her parents' home due to the economic crisis. She returns to her hometown after more than a decade without setting foot there, to that rancid, sweltering place she fled to live far from family secrets and the rumors. She will have to face the weight of not fitting in, prejudice, failure, and loneliness. But Mary Pain is determined to face her past, uncover the thick veils that were drawn too long ago, and give herself one last chance.

"Maganta," a term no longer in use but common in the author's home area, is used to refer to lazy, thoughtful, and weak people. The protagonist carries this backpack of adjectives on her shoulders until she begins to release them and rise like an inflatable balloon, in danger of flaring up.

Maganta is Lola Lorente's return to comics after her debut work, Blood of My Blood (Astiberri, 2011), which won the Best New Author Award at the Barcelona Comic Fair. A masterful work that comes to light after almost ten years of development, in a delicatessen edition.
