The classic Chore Coats or Work Jackets are inspired by the work clothes worn by workers in France during the 19th century. They are garments made to last all day: large pockets to carry everything, four external and two internal pockets, a straight cut for freedom of movement, and thick, durable cotton fabric that held up without tearing. Over time, they left the workshop and became an essential staple: versatile, functional, and timeless.
The word "CHAMBAS" suggests it might derive from the English word "chamber." It is said that during the Mexican Revolution, some workers crossing the border into the United States sought employment and sometimes found work cleaning "chambers" or rooms in hotels.
